To be an entrepreneur is something that most people dream about doing. Everyone has their motivations to do it. Every person wants to do something great and leave a mark on the world. It appears that there is a major goal by some to be the new GURU. Well, maybe not the new “guru” but to be the best at what they do or to be recognized and to get notoriety. I don’t know if I’m any different. Anyone that knows me knows that I’m all about the honesty.
Last week I had one of the most enlightening meetings with a brand strategist and I guess that I had said some things that were on point and on key. One thing that I said was “Just because I created this savings competition, it doesn’t mean that I want to be nor am I a financial guru!” Saying it to someone else besides me was the most liberating thing I’ve done so far since Ultimate Money Fight began.
Truth be told, I know how to save, I know how to find the resources that I need to become informed, I know how to lead and encourage, and I want to point Ultimate Money Fighters in the direction of where I’m going. I will never mislead anyone into thinking that I am Warren Buffett or Dave Ramsey. I’m a guy that has a passion for helping people save, the same way that Blake Mycoskie of TOMS Shoes took a vacation to Argentina that changed his life. There he saw lots of children that didn’t have shoes. He decided to create a shoe company that would give away a pair of shoes to kids in countries that have no shoes every time a pair is purchased by someone. Blake wasn’t a shoe expert, he’s not going to design the next Jordan sneaker or the next Louboutin’s, but his passion has allowed him to give away almost 300,000 pairs of shoes to prevent diseases like Hookworm and Podoconiosis.
That’s what this is about, for me it’s a way to do what banks won’t do, what the government won’t do (or isn’t designed to do) and that is give to the American people in the form of incentive and prize money. Having something in savings is like shoes, without it you can stand for so long but eventually you feel the negative effects. The only thing I can’t control is the responsibility of the recipients of the money. Hopefully they are as passionate to save as I am about UMF and the giving nature of our company. Ultimate Money Fight is about philanthropy and social responsibility.
Ultimate Money Fight will soon charge a $5 per month Fighter’s Fee to new members and most of that will be given away. The same way that TOMS Shoes is a Get One Give One organization, UMF is a Save Some Give More organization. Let’s show the world!

One Response and Counting...
I have to say thank you for helping to motivate me to start saving. This competition has been the start of something great for me and my family. Although I had to dip into my savings for an emergency, I actually had the funds to be able to do so. That wouldn’t have been the case a year ago.
